Polymath - A person of encyclopedic learning
Becoming a polymath is a pursuit primarily for myself.
Defining my version of polymath
- In my journey to becoming a polymath, I use the conceptual framework of three types of health - mental, physical, and social. I aim to participate in activities in each sector to restore me and grow in.
- Mental health activities that restore me:
- Stream of Consciousness Journaling (Morning Pages)
- Personal education
- Physical health activities that restore me:
- Strength training in the gym
- Walking and hiking in nature
- Social health activities that restore me: (How do we connect with others?)
- Conversation-based connection
- Activity-based connection
In order to become a polymath, I believe in the power of Routine as intentionality.
- As my dad once proudly explained to me, several great thinkers of our time wear the same outfit everyday to reduce decision fatigue. Similarly, I believe that routine has the same benefit. By reducing the mental effort placed on making choice, we may use our mental efforts towards activities important to us.
- With limited spoons each day (Spoon Theory), routine allows me to allocate spoons based on efforts most important to me.
